Our Mission
Five Points Family Ventures was founded to carry on the lessons of community betterment, leadership, calculated risk-taking and hard work that over fifty years of entrepreneurship have taught the Hawkins family. Our goal is to pay the family’s success forward by partnering with the next generation of exceptional entrepreneurs and investors.
Our History
Dwayne Hawkins was born into humble beginnings in rural Alabama, returning to his hometown in 1962 after serving in the armed forces to work as a salesperson at Doug Willey Pontiac. Within 6 years, Dwayne had advanced to become the dealership’s general manager, and in 1969, he was sent to Saint Petersburg, Florida to purchase a Pontiac dealership. Dwayne and his team outgrew the run-down, one-car showroom within a year, so Dwayne built a 40,000 square-foot dealership. When Willey came to visit the new store, his wife took one look and remarked, “This is going to be your crown jewel.” The name stuck and the new store was renamed Crown Pontiac.
Dwayne eventually bought the store and went on to grow the Crown Automotive Group to a total of 23 dealerships spanning Florida, Ohio and Tennessee. Following in his footsteps, Dwayne’s family members have started and scaled their own businesses across various industries, including automotive retail, consumer finance, asset tracking/telematics, payment processing, asset management, and healthcare.
Five Points Family Ventures was established in 2022 to serve as a steward of the family’s capital and to safeguard its current and future business ventures.
